A chain of islands in Biscayne Bay near Miami Beach. The islands are (from west to eat) Biscayne Island, San Marco Island, San Marino Island, Di Lido Island, Rivo Alto Island, and Belle Isle. There is also Flager Monument Island, which remains uninhabited and is used as a picnic island, originally built in the 1920's as a memorial to Henry Flagler, a railroad pioneer.
Connected by bridges which are favorite routes to jog, ride bike, walk dogs and take a stroll, the islands offer the residents a suburb feeling, but still within minutes of Miami hotspots South Beach and the Carnival Center of Performing Arts.
