Just who is Jose Bedia? Well, as you may have guessed from the title of the exhibit, he is a man who has had his finger in several different cookie jars. He originally was born in Cuba, but through the 80s and early 90s he moved to Mexico, and finally in 1993 he made his way to Miami. However, through that time and since then he’s visited countless other countries and environments, including the Amazon rainforest and the African Savannah. One thing has remained constant, however – wherever he went, he absorbed himself completely in the culture he found himself in, and used them to inspire his work. Hence the name of the show, Transcultural Pilgrim, stems from his diverse journey through several cultures.

This exhibition is designed to display and contrast the timeline of Jose Bedia’s work, many of which contain harrowing personal references and address touching philosophical issues, enough to leave a lasting impression. The entire Women of Decision & Caring ceremony serves two primary purposes – first, you’ll be honoring five women who have all gone above and beyond in their contributions to South Beach’s volunteer organizations, their role as community leaders and their service as philanthropists.
