A Clean House is a Sold House!
January 28, 2013When preparing to list your home for sale, one of the first tasks a seller must take on is a complete cleaning overhaul. The first question to address is whether or not you will continue living in your house while it is for sale. If you have already secured a new living space, the task of cleaning and maintaining your home for sale will be significantly easier, as an empty space is far easier to clean, maintain and provide with minimal staging. If you will maintain your residence while your home is for sale, the next question to address is whether you will perform the cleaning and maintenance of the house yourself, or whether you will contract the work out to a cleaning professional.
There are solid arguments to be made for whichever route you choose, but the bottom line is a clean home is a home that invites prospective buyers to consider it seriously when making an offer. For a busy working professional whose time is in high demand, the option to contract out the cleaning services may be the best choice to make, as it removes the unwanted stress regarding household maintenance. For a more budget-conscious seller, or for a seller who a more ample amount of free time, the choice to clean it yourself and save money may be one that is more appealing. Keep in mind that cleaning a home for living and cleaning a home for selling are two dynamically different concepts with different expectations. Once you’ve made sure that your home is selling-standard clean, it will require daily attention to maintain.
