Angelica is a Miami native who now calls South Miami (SoMi) home. Not only does she and her husband David enjoy their regular walks down the quiet tree lined streets, he also has his CPA practice in town. The neighborhood is a thriving community that includes numerous parks and a vibrant downtown filled with restaurants, boutiques and various businesses. South Miami also boasts its own Police Department and Hospital. Furthermore, families with young children can enroll their children in one of the area’s first rate magnet public schools, or if they prefer, can choose from the neighboring private schools considered to be among the best in Miami. South Miami is currently experiencing a building renascence that can be witnessed in both commercial and new modern-style residential construction projects. South Miami is a very desirable neighborhood not only because of its close proximity to major urban areas but because of its small town feeling and charming characteristics.
Prior to joining EWM, Angelica worked at the University of Miami in the School of International Studies and the Judaic Studies Program. During her tenure at UM, she worked closely with graduate and undergraduate students from all over the world. Her interaction with on-campus activities and outreach collaborations allowed her to develop her negotiating aptitude and relationship building skills. Among her highlights were establishing the first Peace Corp office on campus, growing the Foreign Area Officer Program for military personnel, inaugurating the Holocaust Internship Program and launching the Semester Studies Program in Israel. She also earned her Bachelor and MBA degrees from UM.
Three generations of Angelica’s family served in the military prompting her to volunteer and support charitable causes that focus mostly on women and children. Her most recent community activities include walking for the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, volunteering on housing projects with Habitat for Humanity, donating haircuts to Locks of Love, collecting gifts for Toys for Tots, and lending a hand in the kitchen for Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army. She is currently investigating charitable organizations as she is looking to invest her time in a leadership role for a meaningful cause.
She and her husband enjoy travel, hiking, art and fine dining, as well as spending time with their growing family – they currently have two daughters and five grandchildren, all living in South Florida.
