Extravagent Lifestyles of the Super Wealthy!

April 10, 2012

The super rich enjoy a lifestyle that most of us can’t even imagine.  Take for example, multi-media mogul, Rupert Murdoch.  Murdoch was recently embroiled in a media scandal that probably caused him a few sleepless nights, but his fabulous lifestyle must have helped ensure a quick recovery.  Murdoch is an octogenarian who is thirteenth on the list of the world’s most powerful people.  His conglomerate owns the Fox Broadcasting Company, the Wall Street Journal, Twentieth Century Fox Studio, and publishes over 175 newspapers.  In addition, the company owns thirty-five television stations in the United States and four satellites that deliver television programs to the United States, Australia, Europe, and Asia.

The Australian born Murdoch owns several homes around the world.  In 2005 he purchased a forty-four million dollar triplex on New York’s Fifth Avenue.  When he’s on the west coast, he lives in opulent style in an 8,700 square foot Italianate villa.  It boasts eleven bedrooms and nine bathrooms in case Mr. Murdoch wants to entertain one of his many friends in the movie industry.  Paparazzi try (usually in vain) to obtain pictures of “A” list movie stars enjoying canapés and cocktails on his several patios.  Murdoch also owns sumptuous homes in Oyster Bay, Beijing and Melbourne.  These are the homes that have been reported by those in the media who watch the activities of the rich and famous.  It is widely thought that he also owns several more properties that he endeavors to keep secret so as to maintain some measure of privacy.

Murdoch also possesses two fantastically lavish yachts.  The first is a luxurious 183-foot yacht, the Rosehearty.  It has five luxurious suites, several high-end salons, and a gym.  In case he desires some variety while cruising the high seas, Murdoch purchased a second luxury yacht, the Vertigo.  It enjoys the distinction of being the seventh largest sailing yacht in the world.

Because he owns real estate around the world and two yachts to take him to exotic destinations, Murdoch needs a way to travel in the comfortable style to which he has become accustomed.  To this end, he owns not one but two private jets.  The first is a custom-built Boeing 737.  It cost sixty-two million dollars.  Amenities include a boardroom for meetings and a bedroom so the octogenarian can get some much needed rest. The second aircraft is a Gulfstream 550.  It set Murdoch back a little less than the Boeing – the price tag was “only” 48.2 for this airborne beauty.

As can be seen, this multi-billionaire has to spare no expense when seeing to his creature comforts!
