Living By The Water

June 2, 2011

Owning a home by the water fulfills the ultimate dream for many of us. There is nothing like the luxurious experience of breathtaking views, ocean breezes and round-the-clock access to sun, sand and surf.

But before you purchase the waterfront home of your dreams, be sure to educate yourself on all the issues that come along with living in such close proximity to the raw power of the ocean.

While being close to nature is wonderful, it does mean more maintenance. Salt water erodes and rusts, so you will need to budget in regular upkeep and repairs to keep your house, dock and boats in good shape. And along with extended periods of gorgeous weather, we do get hurricanes and tropical storms from time to time. So you will need to protect your home with good quality hurricane shutters and other safety upgrades.

As long as you take into account that Mother Nature can be wild and unpredictable at times, your home by the water will become a constant source of enormous pleasure and enjoyment for both you and your family.
