Pan Am Opens New Visitor Center in Coconut Grove
February 4, 2013One of the most historically significant airlines in the short history of aviation and flight, Pan Am has opened a historical museum/ visitor center at CocoWalk in the heart of Coconut Grove. This amazing location features everything from a visual timeline of the history of Pan Am, to pieces of a real jet engine and first class cabin.
The name of the exhibit is called First Flight Out and is offers its guests a once-in-a-lifetime walk back through time to the earlier days of Pan Am. So far, the reviews from this Coconut Grove exhibit have been extremely positive. There is a certain appeal about being able to be transported back to an earlier era. The vintage cabin with seats from a time long gone along with all of the items including uniforms and Pan Am literature from the 50’s and 60’s really bring the past to life.
The Pan Am visitor center also features replicas of many of these vintage items for sale. Now you can buy your own Pan Am uniform or get a more modern looking Pan Am item of clothing with the Pan Am logo.
Miami was the birthplace of Pan Am, and played a very significant role in aviation during its earlier years. It is almost fitting that this museum of sorts would find its home back where it all started.
For visitors or locals looking to relive the Pan Am experience and get a feel for what things were like in decades past, this new center should prove to make a wonderful excursion as just something to do for the day in Coconut Grove, or a more meaningful journey back through time. The exhibit is set to officially open to the public this February 2013, provided that there aren’t any unforeseen delays.
