Tech Thursday – iPhone 5 News
August 4, 2011So after the release of OSX Lion and several upgrades to some Mac hardware several weeks ago, the spotlight goes back on the iPhone 5. No official announcement from Apple was made yet, but initial estimates indicated that this highly anticipated upgrade to the iPhone family would become available on September. Recent rumors, however, hinted that now the release of the iPhone 5 has been pushed back to October. So those of you who have been waiting to upgrade their iPhone to an iPhone five, you may need to patiently wait one more month, but we’ll keep you posted.
In addition to the excitement surrounding the release date of this new gadget, it appears that other carriers in the US and outside will join the party as well. Bill Palmer of Beatweek Magazine reports that Sprint representatives have been telling their customers that the iPhone 5 is coming to sprint. If this is true this will make Sprint the third carrier in the US to offer the iPhone. Gabriel Perna of the International Business Times reports that China Telecom, the country’s state owned telecom company, will offer the iPhone 5 to it’s subscribers as well. With 108.4 million subscribers (12% of the China) this would be a huge opportunity for revenue growth.
