The Most Expensive Tickets in Sports Across the Globe
January 21, 2014Sports are a hugely popular spectator activity and some fans even go further than just watching. Of course, to get the best experience possible or to even get in the door at some of the top sporting events, you have to be willing to open up the wallet. Here are the most expensive sporting tickets found in the world.
The Masters
Getting a ticket to The Masters is comparable to getting the golden ticket on the movie, “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. It’s nearly impossible, but if you do get the opportunity to watch the PGA’s finest golfers slug it out on one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world, expect to pay nearly $4,500 for a four-day pass. However, beers are only $3 and a pimento cheese sandwich (a long time Master’s tradition) is only $1.50.
Legends Suites for the New York Yankees
With a new stadium in place and the prestigious history of the New York Yankees, it comes as no surprise to see them on this list. Getting into a game is very expensive for the average person, but the Legends Suites get even pricier. Suites must be leased in advance for three to ten years and the average cost is $2,500 per ticket. That might not seem like much, but each suite holds 122 people, making the total cost over $900,000 per game.
FIFA World Cup 2014 Finals
As one of the largest sports in the world, it’s not surprising a soccer match would make the list of the most expensive sports tickets. The FIFA World Cup finals are always expensive and if you want to attend just one game, in 2014, you will need to spend $990. Those looking to watch all the matches for any specific team will drop $3,350 minimum for the finals.
The Super Bowl
Of course, one of the most watched games of the year, the Super Bowl is always very expensive. Last year’s match-up between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers had a face value on the nose-bleed tickets of $1,210. However, many of the tickets were selling for far more than that and some as high at $316,000.
Sports can get expensive in a hurry when you want to attend the top events of the year. These are just a few of the most expensive sporting events and fans will tell you, it’s worth the cost of admission.
