Top Private High Schools Found in South Florida

Finding the right high school for your children isn’t always easy. Whether you already live in the South Florida area or you’re planning to move here, it’s good to know which schools are best for your needs. Based on a list released by Niche.com, there are several great high schools to choose from throughout the area.

The list takes into account a few specific criteria including:

  • Student-to-teacher Ratio

According to this list, here’s a look at the top high schools found throughout South Florida, in no particular order.

Ransom Everglades School

It’s also one of the schools on the list with a 100% college enrollment percentage. The student-to-teacher ratio is great at 11:1 and the parent/student surveys rated the overall experience as a 4.3/5.

Palmer Trinity School

Located in Miami, this high school came in with SAT/ACT scores of 1280 and 30. The college enrollment is at 100% and the student-to-teacher ratio is great at 10:1. This private high school also received an A+ for Culture & Diversity and for Top Colleges Score. Even the parent/student surveys rated it high at 4.6/5.

American Heritage School – Boca Delray Campus

A high school found in Delray Beach, American Heritage School scored high on everything. The SAT/ACT scores came in at 1270 and 29, while the college enrollment is at 100%. The student-to-teacher ratio is one of the best on the list at 7:1 and the parent/student surveys rated the school at 4.3/5.

Pine Crest School

pine-crest-schoolFound in Fort Lauderdale, this high school scored very high on the SAT/ACT with a 1330 and 32. It doesn’t have the lowest student-to-teacher ratio, but it’s still good at 13:1. Parents and students rated the school as a 4.5/5, as well.

Donna Klein Jewish Academy

A Boca Raton private high school with good SAT/ACT scores at 1280 and 29, the Donna Klein Jewish Academy provides a great choice for high school students. College enrollment is 98%, but the school didn’t score well for culture and diversity with a C+. However, the student-to-teacher ratio is 7:1 and the parent/student surveys rated the school as a 4.1/5.

Our Lady of Lourdes Academy

Located in Miami, this high school scored well on the SAT and ACT with 1210 and 27. It lacked the culture and diversity of some of the others on the list with a C grade. However, college enrollment is at 100% and the student-to-teacher ratio is decent at 12:1. The parent/student surveys gave the school a 4.3/5.

Saint Andrew’s School

Scoring very high on the SAT/ACT at 1300 and 30, Saint Andrew’s School is very highly rated. It has a student-to-teacher ratio of 8:1 and college enrollment of 100%. The overall experience from the parent/student surveys rated the school at 4.3/5.

Gulliver Preparatory School

A Pinecrest high school, Gulliver Preparatory scored 1300 on the SAT and 31 on the ACT. It’s rated as an A+ for both Top Colleges Score and Culture & Diversity. The student-to-teacher ratio is 9:1. and the parent/student surveys gave the school a 4.6/5.

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart

carrollton-school-of-the-sacred-heartAnother Coconut Grove school found on the list, Carrollton scored 1290 on the SAT and 30 on the ACT. It had one of the highest parent/student survey score on the list at 4.7/5 and the student-to-teacher ratio is 9:1.

NSU University School

Found in Davie, Florida, the NSU University School scored 1270 on the SAT and 20 on the ACT. College enrollment is 100%, but the parent/student surveys only rated the school at 4/5. It does have 100% college enrollment and a student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1.

The Benjamin School

A North Palm Beach school, The Benjamin School scored lower on the SAT at 1230 and ACT at 30 than most others on the list. It does have an 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio, but only 96% college enrollment.

David Posnack Jewish Day School

Another school found in Davie, Florida, the David Posnack Jewish Day School scored very high in all categories. The SAT was 1340, while the ACT was 30. The school has 100% college enrolment, an A+ for culture and diversity and a student-to-teacher ratio of 7:1. The school also had one of the highest parent/student survey scores at 4.9/5.
