Upcoming Summer Camps in Key Biscayne for 2017

School will be out very soon and the summer season will be here. When you live in Key Biscayne and you want to get your kids into summer camp, you have plenty of options. From summer camps including water activities to a more low key option, there’s something for all children to enjoy.

Finding the right summer camp doesn’t have to be difficult. With plenty of choices, you’re sure to find one your children will love, regardless of their age. Here’s a look at some of the top options available throughout the Key Biscayne area.

Key Biscayne Yacht Club Summer Camps

KayakingThe summer camps offered by the Yacht Club run from June 12th to August 11th. There are five sessions in total with most sessions lasting two weeks. However, the final session is just a four-day camp.

The Yacht Club Summer Camps includes plenty of choices including sailing, kayaking and marine science. For two weeks, your children will enjoy all kinds of fun, while learning new skills. The two-week session includes:

  • Kayak & Marine Science from 9am to 12:30pm for ages 6 to 15
  • London Foggies from 1pm to 4pm for ages 6 to 7 – Learn to sail
  • Combination Full Day Program from 9am to 4pm for ages 6 to 7
  • Beginner/Intermediate Opti Sailing from 9am to 4pm for ages 8 to 12
  • Teens ONLY Sailing C420 from 9am to 4pm for ages 13 to 18
  • Intro to Sailing from 9am to 4pm for ages 7 to 11 – Offer during Session 5 ONLY

All full day and morning camps include lunch and non-members are welcome. On the first day, make sure you arrive 10 minutes early to check all required paperwork. All sailing students will also need to pass a swim test on the first day, which includes 2 minutes of treading water and a 25-yard swim.

Pricing for the camps varies, depending on the age, session and camp chosen.

Junior Outdoor Sports Summer Camp

Held at the Virginia Key Outdoor Center, this summer camp is perfect for students to enjoy the outdoors. It will include many activities, such as kayaking, mountain biking, swimming, stand up paddle boarding, fishing and more.

This summer camp is for children ages 11 and up. It will run from June 12th through August 18th from 10am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. A single day is $75 with a full week running $195, if paid before June 1st and $250 after June 1st. A full five sessions is $875 before June 1st and $950 after June 1st.

Art & Rollerblading Camp

RollerBladingA unique camp combining both rollerblading and art, this Key Biscayne summer camp will allow children ages 5 to 12 to enjoy all kinds of fun. They will learn about creating art from recycled and natural materials, along with sand castles and volcanoes. Participants will even learn about local plans, creating and growing a garden, island survival techniques and rollerblading.

The Art & Rollerblading Camp will run from June 12th to July 7th with four weekly sessions. It’s for children ages 5 to 12 and all levels from beginner to expert. The cost is $300 for one week and the camp will be held at Crandon Park.

Tennis Summer Camp

From June 11th to August 25th, the Tennis Summer Camp will provide plenty of summer fun for your children. It’s a full camp with housing and will be held 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with breakfast, lunch and dinner served. The camp will be held at Crandon Park.

Campers have the option to attend for one week or for two weeks. For one week, the cost is $2,500 and for 2 weeks the cost is $4,000. Medical insurance is included in the cost.

Summer Tennis Camp After Hours

TennisAlong with the regular Summer Tennis Camp, there’s also an after-hours camp, which doesn’t include housing. This camp will focus on stretching, fitness, technical/strategy and mental coaching.
It will run from June 5th to August 25th with two sessions per day from 9am to 3pm and 3pm to 6pm. The cost is $550 per week to go all day or $195 per week for evenings only with medical insurance included in the cost.
