iPhone 5 Anouncement today?

September 12 2012 – Apple’s big day is here. The main question now is how big will it be. So the Apple online store is down. Not a big surprise, the same happened when Apple introduced the iPhone 4, new iPad, and more. In fact whenever Apple introduces a new product they usually keep their online store down until after the announcement. So unless Apple is coming out with a new car, it is pretty safe to assume that they will announce the iPhone 5 (or new iPhone) today. It is also safe to assume that the newly announced product will be available for pre-order.

Many speculations about the new iPhone have been made. The phone is expected to run on 4th generation (4G) cellular network, it is expected to have a bigger screen, and also expected to have a smaller connector. So from the outside it looks like the phone will be similar to the iPhone 4 however what we are really curious about is what will happen inside.

Larger body and smaller connection mean one thing, the Apple engineers have more space to work with inside. What would they do with it? Well it is pretty safe to assume that the processor and graphics components will be upgraded, but the extra space could be used to also upgrade the speakers and mic, upgrade the camera, address previous issues such as the antenna and over heating of the device, and probably insert a larger battery in there. This new iPhone might not be as revolutionary as its predecessors but it would definitely provide new standards of performance.

Many experts have made some assumptions that Apple will also introduce the iPad mini today. The main purpose of the iPad mini would be to fight against Amazon’s line of Kindles, and Microsoft new tablets which are expected to be announced next month. When Steve Jobs was running the show at Apple he said on several occasions that the iPad’s screen size is perfect and that there is no need to change it. It would be interesting to see if Apple is going, for the first time, to take a step which does not really follow Steve Job’s vision.

Some also believe that the iPod lineup will get an upgrade as well which makes sense. One thing that hasn’t been discussed much by the experts in recent months is the Mac line of products. Both The MacBook Pro and MacBook Air have been upgraded back in June and introduced in WWDC 2012. Many believe that the Mac Mini, iMac, and Mac Pro are up for an upgrade. We believe that there is a chance we would see a Mac upgrade announced today as well, especially for the iMac and Mac Pro. After the MacBookPro got upgraded with the Retina display, it was just a matter of time before the iMacs would get the same upgrade. With Mountain Lion (Apple’s most recent operating system for the Mac) getting closer and more similar to iOS than any Mac OS in the past, it would be a great opportunity for Apple to continue promoting their “Back to the Mac” campaign today. Apple will probably also spend some time talking about Apple TV and possibly introduce some upgrades to it as well, however we do not expect any huge news on that front. But as always, you never know with Apple.

We will keep you posted today about all the announcements so stay tuned….
