CHOOSING THE RIGHT WATERFRONT PROPERTY

December 23, 2009
Have you been dreaming of owning your own beautiful getaway on the water? With the market favoring the buyer, now is a great time to follow that dream. Buying a waterfront home requires more consideration than standard real estate. You want to be sure that the property you choose will suit your lifestyle and recreation preferences. Start by making a list of all your expectations for the property:

What kind of activities do you enjoy? If it’s boating and fishing then you will want access to docking facilities. If you love golfing, you want to be close to a good course.

How often do you want to use the property? If you just want it for vacations, how much travel time you do want to use to get there. How much maintenance time do you want to spend on your property? If you just have weekends to be at your property, you might want a waterfront condominium where the property is maintained for you.

List the other elements you desire, such as proximity to cultural events, shopping, dining and medical facilities.
If you are clear on what you really want in a waterfront property your REALTOR® will be able to find you the property that fits all of your needs.
