Most Amazing Natural Wonders Throughout Florida

florida-beachesAs a resident of Miami, you gain access to plenty of beautiful views and amazing things to enjoy. However, you’re also located in a state full of amazing natural wonders; some near Miami and others found across the state.

From beautiful beaches to eerie caves, Florida as a bit of everything to offer. It’s known as the Sunshine State and the impressive nature basks in the sunlight year-round. Whether you want to take a road trip outside of Miami or just enjoy something amazing in your own backyard, there are plenty natural wonders to choose from.

Everglades National Park

The national and state parks throughout Florida are some of the best on the planet. Everglades National Park is found not far from the Miami area and provides plenty of natural wonders all throughout. It was established in 1947 because of the biological diversity. Birds, sawgrass, gators and so much more are found here.

Discovering the Everglades with a pontoon boat or air boat tour is a great way to see it all. You might just spot panther tracks, see a gator or just enjoy the peace throughout the mangroves and water.

Colorful and Amazing Reefs

The third largest barrier reef on the planet is found in Florida. Not only is this reef here, but many other colorful reefs are spread throughout the state. While the Florida Keys provide an abundance of great reef you can see by scuba diving or snorkeling, there are some others right near the Miami area.

Two of the best places to go in Florida for reef corals are Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and Biscayne National Park. Both are considered top parks to enjoy with plenty of tropical vegetation and all types of coral and marine life.

The Many Pristine Beaches

Whenever somebody mentions Florida, it’s easy to let your mind wander to the many incredible beaches. It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about the Atlantic side or the Gulf side, an abundance of incredible beaches are found all throughout the state.

The Miami area is home to some of the top beaches in Florida and a few are considered some of the best in the entire world. Of course, South Beach comes to mind and Fort Lauderdale Beach is another great choice not far away. Other great beaches found throughout Florida include:

  • Clearwater Beach
  • Siesta Beach
  • Santa Rosa Beach

Clear and Beautiful Springs

There are more in Florida than anywhere else in the world and they are simply breathtaking. From the Silver Glen Springs found in Ocala National Forest to those found at Blue Springs State Park, there are plenty to choose from.

It may not be easy to find beautiful springs in the Miami area, but a short road trip will land you at some of the best in the world. Rainbow Springs State Park is home to a 10,000-year-old historic spring, which is found to the north of Orlando.

Mysterious Caves

Who really thinks about going on a tour of a cave in Florida? The state is actually home to an underwater cave system, along with air-filled caves and sinkholes. You won’t find anything like this anywhere else in the world.

Located up in the Panhandle, the Florida Caverns State Park provides beautiful air-filled caves to explore. These are the only air-filled caves open to the public in the state. However, you can explore underwater caves at Devil’s Den or Devil’s Eye in the Ginnie Springs.

Amazing Waterfalls

Florida is also home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country. These unique options are found in areas, such as Niagara, Florida and the Falling Waters State Park in Chipley. The waterfalls at Falling Waters State Park measure 73 feet in heights, 20 feet in width and 100 feet in depth. It’s a cylindrical sinkhole and quite impressive, especially considering how flat the state is compared to the rest of the country.

Coastal Dunes Lakes

coastal-dunes-lakesWhile the coastal dunes lakes are not near Miami, they have to be included on any list about natural wonders in Florida. These lakes are incredibly popular throughout the summer. Only three other places in the world include these rare bodies of water: New Zealand, Australia and Madagascar.

Fifteen lakes are found on 26 miles of beautiful beaches in the area known as Florida’s Emerald Coast. These five-food deep freshwater lakes are known as a natural wonder.

Florida may be known for the pristine beaches, but there’s plenty more to the state. Many of the most amazing natural wonders can be found throughout Florida and some are found right in the Miami area.
