The audiences of Miami Theater have increased over the years in size and class, and each season appears to surpass the last with new smash hits, such as Les Miserables and Mary Poppins.
The performing arts scene has spread out locally, spreading further than downtown Miami and into the suburbs like Cutler Bay and Aventura. What a perfect destination for a dinner and show where some of the greatest restaurants in Miami can be found as well.

Adrenne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts
A cultural inspiration to Miami this nonprofit establishment has revived local interest in the arts since it opened in 2006. They present award winning talent and bring well-known shows to the stage.
Traveling Broadway shows, musicals, world music and children’s shows, as well as circus and acrobatic acts are featured here. They are also the home to the Florida Grand Opera and the Miami City Ballet.
New World Center
This is the only full-time orchestral academy in America. They groom the graduates for the school for their careers in symphony and other prestigious positions. The high quality concerts here vary from classical to experimental.
GableStage
Presenting a diverse season of modern drama and comedy, and throwing an occasional classic the productions here are hand-picked by the expert creative director Joe Adler travels to London and New York searching for the latest hits.
Adler will also take a gamble on local talent with experimental pieces and developing plays by South Florida artists. This is one of Miami’s most daring stages and produces shows with strong production and brilliant acting.
Broward Center for the Performing Arts
This $52 million theater has a 2,700 sea Au-Rene Theater and the cozy 590 seat Amaturo Theater. There is quite a range of performances including Broadway musicals, serious dramas, modern dance, ballet, classical music, pop concerts, and comedy shows. It is recognized for its children’s theater as well.
Actor’s Playhouse
With its prime location on Miracle Mile this is a fantastic destination for those who would like to have a nice meal and shop before a show. This is a non-profit theater that features a complete season of theatrical productions for adults, a children’s theater sequence, acting classes, and a multitude of community services.
Micro Theater Miami
The spaces and productions here are small, the produce short skits in shipping containers that are transformed to stages. Shows are typically comedies about love, sex, and relationships that last approximately 15 minutes.
Colony Theatre
This theater is a jewel of a 1934 building that has been authentically renovated recently. It is home to the Miami Lyric Opera, but there are comedy, dance, and modern theater shows such as Angels in America or The Rocky Horror Picture Show as well.
