62nd State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida STEM Competition – The Lakeland Center
From March 28th to 30th, 2017, the SSEF will be held at The Lakeland Center in Lakeland, Florida. This fair and competition is for those ages 11 to 18 and provides the opportunity to compete with experimental research projects. Area teachers will give out the rules and the policies of the STEM projects to sixth through twelfth grade students in September 2016.
Little People Playthings by Pocket of Lollipops – Miami Main Library
On October 29th, 2016, an interesting event will be held at the Miami Main Library on West Flagler Street. This event will provide a display of more than 200 dolls from the Artist Pop Up Studio Program collection. The dolls represent many different countries and styles across the globe.
This event is perfect for any age and great for those enjoying tolls. The Pocket of Lollipops husband/wife musical team will entertain those at the event. Attendees can even wear costumes.
Palm Beach Zoo Children’s Workshops – West Palm Beach
If you have younger children, ages 2 to 4, the workshops held at the Palm Beach Zoo make for a great activity to enjoy. These workshops are held year-round and provide the opportunity for children to learn about different animals. Miami Herald Spelling Bee/Scripps National Spelling Bee
For children ages 9 to 12, the Miami Herald Spelling Bee will provide a fun event for participate in. It will be held in March of 2017 and provides the opportunity to make it into the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which is held from May 23rd to 25th, 2017.
Parents can bond with their children as they prepare for the spelling bee. The champion of the local spelling bees will get to participate in the national spelling bee, which will be held in Maryland.
Mound Key Kayak Tour to Koreshan State Historic Site – Estero
Taking a family kayak tour to a historic site might be the perfect way to connect with your teenager. These tours are being held now through the end of the year and they fit perfect for children ages 12 to 15.
The kayak tour will be held within the Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve and will go to the cultural center of the Calusa Indiana. This is where Ponce de Leon arrives in Florida in 1513. You will need a reservation for this tour, which is put on by The College of Life Foundation.
