The word ‘luxury’ is used to describe desirable but unnecessary items sold at very expensive prices.  Luxury is also described as an event that gives immense joy and pleasure because it seldom occurs.  As time passed, originality and novelty have been considered as significant elements in the growth, promotion, and development of luxury designers, goods, designs, and fashion.

Defining luxury is not easy as its definition is both culture-specific and dynamic.  In society it is defined loosely as a service or product that consumers want, but do not need.  Regardless of anything else, there has been a unique market growth of luxury brands.  A service or product is considered as luxury when it comes in top standard with unique craftsmanship, innovations, design, and quality.  In fashion design, craftsmanship and quality are connected however innovation and creativity are separate categories.

In terms of innovation and creativity, these two are often exchangeable and connected to describe the design and the process therefore defining fashion and design in numerous ways.  Many analysts failed to understand that both terms have too little or no difference at all and can be taken to mean as one or similar thing as they have started to merge slowly.

Innovation is defined as something that aims to implement and transform rather than invent or explore.  In such situation, assessing the level of change or contribution that designs can have on luxury items will be tough.  In some instances expert analysts have argued on the idea of considering technological innovation as the key in the creation of luxury products and fashion.

Co-relation between manufacturer and designer is an essential and fundamental part in the development of luxury fashion items to be able to support themselves in the ever-changing industry of fashion.

In progressive and developing countries, the industry of luxury fashion is flourishing and people who want to show their social status are seen flaunting one or several luxury items.  Saying that the purchasing power has decreased because of recession is not true.  As a matter of fact the price reduction of luxury goods has only provided luxury enthusiasts enough reason to shop more.

Electronic and print media have helped create awareness on the industry of luxury fashion.  Being well-informed, consumers will be able to know the cons and differences of buying luxury fashion items.  Luxury fashion industry has already established its name in all corners of the world.
