Have you ever wanted to own an island? If so, you have the opportunity to do so in Florida. There are a number of private islands across the world for sale, but they usually cost a fortune. However, if you don’t have hundreds of millions of dollars, you may still be able to own an island.

Florida features many islands for sale, but not all of them fit into the “smallest private islands” category. Here’s a look at five islands you can purchase in Florida and the price range goes from $595K up to $1.5 million.

Jewfish Key

Jewfish KeyThe most expensive small island on the list is Jewfish Key. This island covers 0.72 acres and the asking price is $1.5 million. It’s found off the coast of Sarasota in the Gulf of Mexico. The island also features 300 feet of incredible beachfront.

The home found on Jewfish Key provides 2,400 square feet of living space. The first floor provides an updated bathroom, an extra-large guest bedroom and the kitchen, which features granite counter tops. It also features an open living area with incredible views.

The second floor of the home features the master suite with cupola windows, dual vanities and a French tub. The private sliding doors lead to some of the most amazing views from the second floor. The hoe also features a 360-degree wrap around deck and many upgrades have recently been installed.

Pretty Joe Rock a.k.a. Sea Shell Key

Another island coming in at $1.5 million, Pretty Joe Rock is actually the smallest island on the list. It only covers 0.25 acres of land. The island is located off the coast of Marathon, Florida and features a home, which was built in the 1970s.

The home has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and it sold for $850K back in 2008. The house features panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico, exposed wooden beams, cathedral ceilings and many other luxury features. The island also features a boat dock with a fish cleaning station.

The home found on Pretty Joe Rock rends for about $4K per week. It could be purchased and turned into an investment/rental property or a private island escape for the owner.

Dolphin Jump Key

Dolphin Jump KeyA half-acre island with a deep-water dock, 17-foot motorboat and a two-bedroom cottage, Dolphin Jump Key is up for sale for $1.25 million. The island home rents for about $3K per week and provides some of the finest furnishings.

The home is centrally located in the Florida Keys. It’s only a five-minute boat ride from the shore and provides some of the most amazing landscape imaginable. Full of mangrove trees, those living or staying here can enjoy fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, hiking and more.

Quiet Cove Key

Another island found off the coast of Marathon, Florida, Quiet Cove Key covers 0.32 acres of land and it’s selling for $995K. The island rents for about $3K per week and the island comes with a 38-foot houseboat with air conditioning. There is no actual house, so the houseboat does serve as the home for the island.

The houseboat features 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Staying here or owning this island provides the ability to enjoy incredible views, camping, picnicking, kayaking, fishing, snorkeling and so much more. It’s one of the most beautiful areas in Florida and this is a true escape from everything else.

Coquina Key

Coquina KeyThe least expensive small island on the list is Coquina Key at just $95K. It’s an undeveloped island found off the northwest coast of Florida and covers about one acre of land. While there isn’t a home on this island, it could be built on because of the agriculture zoning, which allows for one dwelling up to 45-feet tall. It’s also possible to get a private dock permit.

The island provides deep water access for incredible fishing, kayaking and boating. It’s found right at the entrance to the Anclote River and just a few minutes from the open Gulf of Mexico. A few minutes by boat gets you to the Anclote River County Park, which provides car parking and multiple boat ramps for guests.
