Luxury vacation travel, both nationally and internationally, is down. Instead, the wealthy are converting their primary and secondary homes into their own private getaways. Affluent homeowners are looking for comfort over glamour. The study shows that while exterior home improvements for the elite have dropped, the purchase of products that improve life inside the home, like custom mattresses, luxury linens and bathroom remodels, have doubled and tripled in the past year. And while it’s clear that luxury homeowners want to get comfy, they also want to feel secure, because their spending on home security systems has risen by 157 percent.
