Huge Price Tag for Mashta Point
September 11, 2014William J. Matheson created Mashta Point, which is a private cove with deepwater anchorage found in the Key Biscayne area. This property hit the market with a price tag of $60 million as the Wall Street Journal had reported.
Not only does this huge price tag make Mashta Point the one of the most expensive listing ever in the Miami area, but it will also make it the most expensive residential sale if it goes for that price. Actually, the property only has to get somewhat near that price to be the most expensive ever for the Miami area.
About Mashta Point
Mashta Point contained a very luxurious Moorish House built by Matheson. It’s known as Mashta House and found on the southern arm of the cove. It was built back in 1917 and was demolished in the 1950s.
This home was once known for the amazing parties with huge names, such as the Carnegies and Vanderbilts showing up. Parties were held here often during the roaring 1920s before the original home was demolished. Many of the guests showed up in their yachts and left them waiting in the cove.

Today, the property features a 12,000 square foot house, which was built in the 1990s. This home has five floors, six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a gazebo, a pool and an elevator. However, the most amazing feature of the property isn’t the house, it’s the long hook-shaped piece of land at the tip of the island and the cove.
Overall, this property is the most expensive ever listed in Southern Florida, along with one of the most expensive in the entire country. It’s an amazing property with plenty of luxurious amenities. Whoever ends up purchasing the property will own one of the most unique properties in all of South Florida.
