It Took a Decade to DeliverJune 26, 2013
After ten years of hard work, the Monastero Santa Rosa has finally become a resort worthy of praise. It has won many awards over the past few years and is well deserving. This luxury resort is found in the town of Conca dei Marini in the Amalfi Coast and provides modern luxury for guests year-round.
The rooms all provide a Mediterranean Sea view because of the L-shaped structure created all the way back in the 1681. This is a unique resort feature, which allows the amazing view every guest gets to enjoy.
Looking back at the past of this awesome seaside structure, it’s been a monastery, a seaside hotel and a private compound. When the current owner bought the property, it was overgrown and many plants had to be hauled away. It has taken ten years to completely transform the building into the award-winning resort found today and many guests believe it was well worth the wait.
The architecture makes the build incredibly unique because many of the original features were restored by Francesco Avolio de Martino. The strict guidelines used for preservation helped to keep many of the best features. The exterior wasn’t changes much, other than cleaning and polishing, along with the interior walls remain mostly in place.
Originally, the resort was going to feature 32 rooms, but the owner decided to change the plan and only create 20 rooms. This allowed for much larger accommodations including king-size beds, larger bathrooms and more room for decoration. Other luxury features include Pratesi linens, rain showers and many eclectic antique decorations.
Taking the experience even further, this luxury resort provides a spa, terraced gardens, restaurant and bar. Not only will guests enjoy the pampering provided by the staff, but also the beautiful architecture due to the careful preservation. Materials, such as the confe4ssional grates, have been re-purposed and the old wine-making facility of the monastery provides a home for the relaxing spa.
