Lavish Ski Vacations

March 27, 2012

Some luxury ski packages provide everything except the snow.   And among the “best of the best,” the French Alps have long been recognized as one of the leading luxury ski areas in the world.  In the Rhone-Alps, Chalet Silva is a luxury chalet in the small town of Courchevet 1850. This area features some of the finest ski conditions in the Alps, and the chalet is what might be referred to as “rustic lavish.” It is both cozy and luxurious. The chalet has four bedrooms, each with its own bath.  It can comfortably sleep eight people.  It also features an outdoor Jacuzzi, several terraces and balconies, and beautiful gardens. The gardens include many evergreens that thrive in winter and enhance the beautiful, mountainous setting. Inside the chalet, there’s another Jacuzzi, a sauna, satellite television, a stereo system, and several “playrooms.”  Naturally there’s a big fireplace so guests can warm themselves on a cold winter’s eve.  And the huge living room picture windows provide stunning views of the surrounding Alps.  Secure parking is provided underneath the chalet.  A week’s rental also includes a daily cleaning service, maid service, and first day groceries (more if desired).  The going rate is $20,302.00 – $38,715.00 per week, depending on the season.

Another beautiful chalet that can be rented by the week is Ferme de Moudon.  This delightful chalet is in the Portes du Soleil area of the French Alps.  The chalet is appealingly located at the end of a quiet lane.  It’s three minutes from the charming town of Les Gets and one hour from the Geneva airport.  The chalet sleeps ten and has been very carefully restored. It projects the atmosphere of a cozy chalet combined with the amenities the wealthy expect. The manager of the chalet doubles as a personal concierge to the guests.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided and can be ordered to fit the guests’ specifications.  The included chef makes each meal a gourmet feast.  If a helicopter is needed, a helicopter will be provided.  A guest’s every need is attended to.  Even a guest’s ski boots will be warmed in preparation for a dawn mountainside run!

The Portes du Soleil area offers some of the best skiing in the world.  There’s usually fresh powder, and there are 650 kilometers of tended trails and slopes.  There are 207 different varieties of lifts, so there’s never any difficulty getting back up a mountain. In addition, the area offers stunning views of Mont Blanc, arguably the most famous mountain in Europe.  The Chalet Ferme de Moudon rents for between $28,824.00 and $58,263.00 per week.  Again, rates are dependent on the season.  It may seem like a lot of money, but to the wealthy elite in search of a special holiday, it’s well worth the price!
