Congratulations, first-time homebuyers! We’ve compiled a handy checklist to help you maintain your beautiful new luxury home. Even if this isn’t your first time buying a house, remembering to perform routine maintenance tasks in your home can help you avoid large repairs later on by maintaining the areas most likely to be affected by everyday use.

Change your A/C filters monthly.
It’s easy to do and vital to their continued functionality. Clogged filters decrease efficiency and can cause breakdowns.

Drain your water heater at least once a year.
Sediment will drain out along with water from the water tank. Removing sediment prolongs the heater’s life.

Clean your A/C coils.
Clearing dust from the coils maximizes the efficiency of your heating and cooling unit.

Check your circuits.
At least twice a year, test the performance of the circuit breakers in your electrical box by flipping them off and on. If a circuit shuts off performing daily functions, it could be indicative of a short in the wiring, which may require the services of an electrician.

Check the plumbing.
Regularly inspecting underneath the sinks for drips, seepage or water stains that indicate a leak can prevent water damage and high utility bills resulting from faulty plumbing.
